Arthur and Janette Grün welcome you to The Rose and Crown, a charming 17th Century pub of Cotswold stone construction set in the heart of the tranquil village of Brokenborough. Buried deep in the picturesque south Cotswolds, The Rose and Crown lies on the Gloucestershire/Wiltshire county boundary between the ancient market towns of Malmesbury and Tetbury and is within the Cotswolds’ Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The Rose and Crown is a traditional English country pub with an equally traditional approach to hospitality. Whether a local (A hard earned title) or visitor, The Rose and Crown offers a warm welcome to all its visitors. With the emphasis very much on relaxed, informal dining and/or drinking, The Rose and Crown provides the perfect place to unwind and enjoy oneself amidst the peace and beauty of the English countryside.
As part of a major redevelopment programme, the two front bar areas of The Rose and Crown underwent a complete refurbishment during Autumn 2007. The work took great care to retain the bars’ wealth of period charm and features with exposed stone walls, beamed ceilings and a double sided, wood burning stove just made for those frosty, winter days when the glow of a real fire will always guarantee customers a warm welcome. In addition, the restaurant area allows diners to enjoy their meals in comfort and with the appropriate degree of privacy. Outside the south and west facing garden offers a perfect alfresco environment to while away summer afternoons and evenings. Situated on a very quiet country lane, The Rose and Crown is as far from the hustle and bustle of city and town life as you can get and yet Malmesbury is only a mile away.
The Rose and Crown offers easy access to all the south Cotswolds has to offer in the form of visitor attractions. Westonbirt Arboretum; Badminton (Home of the Beaufort Hunt) and Gatcombe, for the world famous 3 day eventing competitions as well as the Beaufort Polo Club; Highgrove home to HRH Prince Charles and Charlton Park new home of the Womad Festival are just some of the attractions on our doorstep. In addition Malmesbury boasts the oldest borough charter in the country and with its Abbey and Abbey House Gardens draws visitors year round from far and wide; whilst the ancient wool marketing town of Tetbury is a major antiques centre with over 30 antique shops in its environs. Something for everybody in much the same vein as The Rose and Crown.
Welcome!
