At The Rose and Crown, we believe in maintaining the best traditions of English country pubs with regard to the drinks we offer. Whilst other pubs may put an increasing emphasis on the sourcing of food produce locally; we go one step further by seeking out our real ales only from specialist, independent breweries in Gloucestershire or Wiltshire. There is a wealth of such local breweries dedicated to keeping alive the best traditions in English, hand crafted beer production. So we have to look no further to ensure that our real ales reach our customers in prime condition. However sourcing the beer locally is not enough in itself to ensure our customers get the best in real ale experiences. We are extremely proud of the cellar standards we maintain to serve our beer at its best. Our regular session beer is Uley Bitter and we also offer Old Spot, a particularly satisfying strong ale, from Uley Ales in Gloucestershire. They have to be tasted to be believed – simple as that! In addition we also offer Mole’s Tap; brewed in Melksham this lower abv session bitter is yet another tribute to local brewing. You won’t find a nationally available beer at The Rose and Crown but you will enjoy a uniquely local, Cotswolds tasting experience when you try our real ales. Indeed we are amongst the first pubs in the region to be recognized by CAMRA’s “LocAle” initiative for our support for local real ales

However we also appreciate that no pub is complete without a complementary range of alternative drinks. In our pursuit of quality we offer imported Becks IV pilsener, brewed in Germany to the historic and exacting Rheinheitsgebot standard, to represent the epitome in traditional lager brewing. Herefordshire cider in the form of Stowford Press continues the quality theme in the bar, whilst a surprisingly French style bottled cider from Somerset’s Orchard Pig offers a refreshing alternative. From the same Mole’s stable as Tap comes Black Rat, a traditional dry still cider. Guinness as it should be – brewed in Ireland – completes our range of drinks on tap.

Wine is now a key component in putting together the best in food and drink experiences in pubs. Unfortunately there is a lack of quality vineyards in our neck of the woods; so we have to make do with the best that the rest of the world has to offer. Our wine list has been compiled to offer quality, variety and value to our customers. Using only local wine merchants, we recognize that nowadays wine is drunk as much to enjoy good company as to accompany good food. We trust our wine list achieves both objectives.

We also offer a wider range than is usual of malt whisky which reflects the diversity in geography and distilling traditions in Scotland.

Our soft drinks offering includes a range of apple and pear juices from The Orchard Pig of Glastonbury, Somerset. Their range is pressed from traditional, hand graded fruit varieties with no artificial flavourings or colourings added.

Whatever your preference, we hope you will enjoy a drink at The Rose and Crown.

Cheers!
